Everyone knows that Christmas time is the period for coming together with your friends and family, and celebrating with lots of delicious food and drinks! We’ve picked some of the easiest, yet tastiest recipes you can make for your housemates without breaking the bank this Christmas.
To make: combine all of the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl, then add the egg and the milk. Once well-combined pour into a pudding bowl.
Cover this with a double layer of buttered foil, making a pleat in the centre as this will allow the cake to rise. Tie the foil with string then place in a large pan containing simmering water, which covers half of the sides of the bowl. Steam, covered with a lid for 2 and a half hours.
Serve with accompaniments of your choice!
To make cakes: Combine dry ingredients in a bowl and stir well. Once complete, add any wet ingredients and put these into individual cake cases. Cook for 25 minutes at 160C, then eat!

Once doughy, roll it out and cut out circles to lay individually in a greased baking tin.
Add in a little mince meat to fill each case, and finish by adding another circle to form a lid on the top.
Spoon over one beaten egg on each pie to make a golden finish.
Bake for 20 minutes at 160C – and hey presto! Easy mince pies.
