Living in Gants Hill

Gants Hill is a small area located in Ilford which is situated in the London Borough of Redbridge, and is home to a diverse range of restaurants, cafes and Valentines Park. Boasting great transport links to central London and throughout the area, travelling is made easy here perfect for both students and professionals. Close to Gants Hill Station is The Valentine student accommodation which is perfectly situated for a commute into central London. Additionally, Gants Hill Library provides a great place to study in as well as a variety of cafes nearby to work in. Read on to find out what it’s like living in Gants Hill.

Due to it’s great location, Gants Hill has convenient and efficient transport links. Whether this be buses or the tube like the Central Line from Gants Hill Station, it is a quick train ride (approx 14 minutes) to Stratford for the nearest Westfield, bowling alley, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and more.

With the recent addition of the student accommodation The Valentine in Gants Hill, the area is becoming incredibly student accommodating. This includes the local supermarkets, parks, cafes and restaurants that are budget-friendly and some of the best places to socialise. As well as a local library to study in perfect for exam season!

Gants Hill has a variety of food options available ideal for both a dinner out or a takeaway! Whether you’re after a lively dining experience in a restaurant at places like Sahara Grill or a pizza from Pizza GoGo, the options are endless! Additionally, other great places to socialise at include the King George V pub and Eastwood bar and lounge with entertainment and food available.

Valentines Park

Valentines Park is a stunning park in Gants Hill, Ilford, and is home to a range of attractions. You can enjoy a meal at both Valentines Cafe and the Gardener’s Cottage Cafe which is in the Valentines Mansion. Both offer a range of lunchtime meals, and tea and coffee at an affordable price. Beyond food, there are a variety of activities to do in this park including visiting the boating lake, playing tennis in the tennis courts and using the free outdoor gym. These are available all year round, but the park also hosts seasonal events, like the Summer Fun Fair. Additionally, the beautiful scenery of the park makes it the perfect place for a stroll admiring the scenic views through the walking trails.

Valentines Mansion and Gardens

This historical mansion is situated in the stunning Mansion Gardens in Valentines Park available for venue hire and hosts many daily exhibitions from art to gardening for you to book! Check the ‘What’s On’ tab on the Valentines Mansion website for regular updates about weekly events and exhibitions to book. Prices may vary, with some being free to attend and others priced at £3. If its your first time visiting, then you may want to consider booking a guided tour. At just £5 you can explore this historical mansion with tea and biscuits served at the end, or you can opt for the Virtual tour which provides an interactive and immersive experience of both the Mansion and Gardens on the website for free!

Eastwood Snooker Bar & Grill

The perfect spot to socialise in and enjoy a night out with friends is the Eastwood Bar and Lounge, situated near Gants Hill station. Best for entertainment and food the Eastwood Bar offers a variety of Indian food and drinks on their menu, so customers can enjoy the best of both! Entertainment includes snooker, pool and a darts board alongside the chance to hang out with friends and watch live sports on the TV.
