What accommodation should I be living in?

As a standard, it would be normal for 1st year students to enter into either University owned or private halls of residence. In more recent years, the quality of university owned housing has dropped substantially and more students are opting to choose the private halls of residence close to campus in the likes of Cathays or in the city centre.

Companies like Fusion Students and Collegiate, offer some fantastic buildings with both Eclipse and Zenith boasting some of the best facilities and locations. New students may also wish to consider the amazingly located Bridge Street Exchange property in the centre of town right next the the St. Davids shopping centre and surrounded by plenty of bars and cafes. All of these sit just a short walk from some of our favourites; Nandos, Pizza Express, Jamie’s Italian, The Grazing Shed, and a host of other brilliant food places in the city centre.

Away from that, depending on your University, there is a range of university owned accommodation which while not offering the same level of facilities as its private counterparts, offers its student dwellers living locations that tend to be in the heart of the student living, or located very close to campus. As a Cardiff University student, you have a varied choice of accommodation with varying price points and locations that will suit depending on your course and campus.
