If your university is having a summer ball then the chances are you are already in some sort of Facebook group for the event. The first way to organise a house party or an after party, is by posting in said Facebook group. The post will notify everyone within the group that you are hosting an after party. The downside of this way of organising a house party, is that anyone who is in the event will be invited. If you want to be more selective about who you invite to your house party there are other ways to do so
One way of being more selective about who is invited to your house party is by using your year groups Facebook page or group chat. As a University student, you’ve probably been added to your course year’s private Facebook group and group chat. By posting specifically in your own course’s group, you’ll only be inviting people that you know. Another way of being even more selective about who is invited to your house party is by creating your own private Facebook event. This is the most selective way out of the three ways mentioned, as you can specifically choose who you want to invite, then you know you can trust everyone who has been invited.
Organising a house party can be a big deal, and can become costly. If you know lots of people are going to come then making it a bring your own booze (or BYOB) party might be a good suggestion. Chances are guests will bring their own drink anyway, but it’s always worth letting them know that you won’t be forking out all your student loan on alcohol for one night!
Before hosting a house party, it’s a good idea to take stock of any valuable or fragile items you have around your house. Whether it’s a cherished family heirloom or that pricey piece of tech that you saved up for, consider temporarily stashing these items in a safe place where they won’t be at risk of accidental damage. While it’s great to showcase your personal style, it’s also important to prioritise their protection during a lively house party
When you’re hosting a house party, it’s helpful to establish clear boundaries for where guests can roam and mingle. By designating specific areas for socialising and keeping doors to private spaces closed, you can manage foot traffic and minimise the risk of unexpected spills or mishaps in more delicate areas of your home. Plus, concentrating the party in one or two main spaces, such as the living room and kitchen, can foster a more lively atmosphere and encourage everyone to join in the fun without worrying about disturbing other parts of the house
House parties are all about kicking back and having a good time, but that doesn’t mean your furniture and floors have to bear the brunt of the festivities. Consider laying down some inexpensive rugs or blankets to shield your surfaces from spills and stains. If you don’t want to spend extra money on these items, you could use bin bags to cover the floors and tape them together. And if your rented property came fully furnished, make sure you put our plenty of coasters, to avoid any liquid ring stains on wooden table tops. Not only will this help preserve your home’s aesthetic appeal, but it’ll also make post-party cleanup a breeze, allowing you to focus on enjoying the memories you’ve made rather than stressing over potential damage control
Opting for plastic or disposable cutlery, plates and cups can help prevent accidents and alleviate the stress of potential breakages, allowing you to focus on enjoying the company of your guests rather than worrying about the aftermath. Plus, with a wide range of stylish and eco-friendly options available, you can still add a touch of flair to your house party without sacrificing convenience or sustainability
Create a designated area for drinks. By doing this, you are keeping drinks away from sensitive electronics and furnishings, which could cause damage to your home, and create more mess to clean up the next day
And speaking of cleaning up, before the house party begins, be sure to stock up on essential cleaning supplies like paper towels, stain remover, and bin bags so you can address any accidents or spills as soon as they occur. You can place extra bin bags around your home so that one is always within easy reach of your guests.
