Given its affluent nature, Hampstead is definitely one of the safest places to live in London. However we do suggest that you avoid walking through Hampstead Heath at night.
Hampstead Heath is home to some of the best outdoor swimming spots in London, including three natural bathing ponds and a 60 metre lido. Grab some friends and spend the day swimming or lounging on the water's edge. You’ll find showers, changing rooms and lifeguards on duty.
Just outside Hampstead Tube station, Hampstead High Street is at the heart of the village. Full of independent shops, restaurants, cafes and boutiques, it’s the perfect place to spend an afternoon mooching around. Don’t forget to explore the little side streets, which are full of delis, galleries, and cosy pubs.
The Holly Bush pub is a much loved spot by locals and visitors. It’s located down a beautiful old side street, and is a traditional English pub with a roaring fireplace and outdoor seating. The Holly Bush serves food all day, all week but we recommend going for a Sunday roast and a beer on a Sunday afternoon.
