Peckham is a busy, residential area with a mix of young professionals, students and the older generation living in the neighbourhood. Historically, Peckham did have a reputation for not being safe, however the regeneration of the area has contributed greatly to lowered crime rates and increased safety.
Peckham has strong transport links, with a railway and bus service connecting it to the rest of the city. Peckham Rye rail station sits at a key rail interchange and is served by the South London Line, East London Line, Thameslink and Sutton & Mole services. Unfortunately there isn’t a London Underground service in Peckham, but the main trainline can still get you into the city centre in ten to fifteen minutes.
Transport for London buses run from two bus stations; Peckham High Street and Blackpool Road, with services all across London and down into Kent.
With the average age of local residents in Peckham falling at thirty six, Peckham doesn't have the largest student population. However, due to its close proximity to Goldsmiths: University of London and Camberwell College of Arts, Peckham is beginning to welcome a growing number of students to the neighbourhood. With affordable rent and a buzzing nightlife, Peckham is becoming a hot spot for students.

If you need a break from the hustle and bustle of Peckham, you'll find Peckham Rye and Peckham Rye common just a short walk away from the hub. Together they make up 113 acres of open grassland, water gardens, a lake and woodland. The area has much historical and wildlife conservation interest.
