Yes, Streatham has one of the lowest crime rates within the borough of Lambeth. Not only that, it's an incredibly welcoming community that is proud of it's roots and culture. Many students and young professionals that live here feel safe at night since there's a lot of bars and nightlife that is open later.
Streatham unfortunately doesn't have an underground station, yet. However with what it lacks in underground stations, it makes up for in train stations. Streatham has three train stations overall; Streatham, Streatham Hill and Streatham Common, all operated by Southern Railway. If you are wanting to get the tube, Streatham is surrounded by areas that have tube stations, like Tooting, Colliers Wood and Crystal Palace. If the railway isn't your transport of choice then Streatham has plenty of services that will take you all over London.
If you're into sports and the gym, you're in luck, Streatham has fantastic facilities for any sport you can think of. There are plenty of gyms to choose from with many of them offering student memberships so you can spend a little extra on a takeaway. There is the Streatham Ice and Leisure Centre that has loads of amenities from an ice rink, HIIT studio, cardio gym and swimming pool, the Wigmore Tennis Club is you think you're the next Wimbledon star and of course, the Tooting Bec Lido for a spot of outdoor swimming.
